Pulau Pangkor-KL Trip

Pulau Pangkor-KL Trip (14/06/13 - 17/06/13)

Pulau Pangkor is an island off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia, reached by ferry either from the old jetty or from Marina Island jetty both located in Lumut (a small coastal town that links to Ipoh through Sitiawan). It has a land area of only 8 square kilometers, and a population of approximately 25,000 islanders. It is promoted as a low-key tourist destination by the Malaysian government, but fishing, seafood and other fishing-related products remain major industries.

I had my maiden trip to Pangkor Island during the  June holidays for 3D4N  from 14 June to 17 June 2013. Dad wanted to go to an Island just to relax so the nearest (and the cheapest of course) was Pangkor Island. We booked a tour with a travel agency who was organising the tour to Pangkor Island.
Day 1 - 14 June - 8 pm, Eunos Mrt

So we head off to the meeting point - Eunos Mrt at ard 8pm on 14 June. Traveled the entire night from Singapore to Ipoh. We arrived Ipoh at about 7 + and then head to somewhere near Lumut jetty for breakfast.

Day 2 -15 June - 8 am, Lumut Bus Station
Had breakfast at nearby coffeeshop. Shops were all closed at that time. The only shops opened was an Indian coffeeshop right at the end of the junction. So we had roti canai which was the only decent food they served. The nasi lemak does not look appetising to me. Anyways, after breakfast, we head to the jetty to get the tickets.

So while waiting for the tickets to be ready we went to the coast to take some pics.

There was a marina which houses the luxurious yatches and ferrries too! I can only dream about boarding those yatches and ferries.

So much different than the ferry we saw at the marina. This is the one we boarded to Pangkor.

And we're here at Pangkor Jetty!

The Pink minivan was our ride throughout the 2 days in Pangkor. Their minivans are taxis here.

Our hotel, Seaview hotel is not that bad nor was it a 4/5-star hotel. But the fact that it was just a step away from the beach was a plus point!

So the moment we put our bags, we had lunch (didnt take any pics cos too hungry) and we headed for island hopping and snorkeling.

The guide showed us some sea creatures which they captured using just a pail and some by scooping them. Ok, that's me below with a sea cucumber. It squirts out water as if it's peeing.

That's a sea urchin. It's unpoisonous though.
And finally we're snorkeling! Was quite nervous actually swimming in the deep sea. But after awhile it was alright...

Then we saw a ship loading a whole lot of anchovies.

After swimming in the sea, we're swimming in the pool!

The day ended with dinner by the sea with awesome posome food like sweet and sour fish, cuttlefish, prawns, chicken and whole lot more. Yumz!

Day 3 - 16 June - 9 am, Pangkor Island

After our breakfast, we had a tour to the town area and did some shopping. Don't expect much shopping there just some goodies to bring home and oh, a whole lot of anchovies and 'ikan asin' to bring home.

Kinda looks like pot pourri..
Some of the people from our tour..

Cute magnets that were so cheap... 10 for RM 20 if I'm not wrong...

This was actually a real blowfish which they preserved. Fascinating huh?

Some ancient ruins which they preserve for historical purposes.

We got back at around 12 and we chill out at our rooms before we had lunch. After lunch is time for some thrill. Was confident that I could pull through this (as I have phobia for such thrilling rides). I thought it was nothing. So we paid for 3 different rides which was about RM 180. The rides were - one banana boat, one ride we had to lie on our front and one we had to lie on our backs.

This is the one that make me almost puked and I gave up the last ride. This was the 2nd ride after banana boat.

In the evening, we spent the time at the beach. Just enjoying the last moments of our holiday at Pangkor.

For dinner we celebrated father's day. :)

Day 4 - Checked out from Seaview hotel and head to Kuala Lumpur.

This was our ride back...

We reached Kuala Lumpur about 2+. Went shopping at Masjid India area. I gotta tell you I need more than a day if I'm there. I think my eyes literally popped out. So after shopping we checked into Grand Seasons hotel.

The view from our hotel.

Day 5 - Checked out and visit to KLCC and chocolate boutique.

So sad that this vacation is coming to an end... Looking forward to the next holiday trip..

Till then.
